Silkkiterrieri

The Silky Terrier is a cheerful, lively, and social breed. It is spirited and highly responsive to its surroundings, which is why barking should be guided and managed from puppyhood. Typical for the breed are its terrier-like confidence, alertness, and active personality. The Silky Terrier is kind-hearted and makes an excellent family dog, including for families with children. Consistency and clear boundaries are important in raising the breed.

Although the breed does not have a true working-dog background, its eagerness to please makes it easy to train and a versatile companion for various hobbies and everyday activities. Many individuals still retain their original prey drive, so the small and agile "hunter" may emerge in the right situations.

Their exercise needs are moderate. A Silky Terrier does not require extreme amounts of activity, but happily joins brisk and even longer walks. They often enjoy being off leash in the forest and naturally stay close to their owner. Even as adults, Silky Terriers remain alert and energetic.

Thanks to their structure, agility, quick reactions, and willingness to cooperate, Silky Terriers are well suited for many different dog sports and also make enthusiastic companions for an active lifestyle.
